Education Response to COVID-19
Education plays an important role in the development of children. Our educational system lost 3rd term to COVID-19, causing huge knowledge gaps. Virtual learning was introduced across the nation. The outbreak of COVID-19 presented a sobering lesson in education, highlighting the extent to which unequal access to technology and internet restricts distance learning opportunities for children even in the cities. Imagine the impact in rural communities where only very few population can access the internet and radio broadcasting.
In order to close the knowledge gaps, we supported community-led education efforts. Owo and Enuogu Nkerefi in Nkanu East LGA; Umuhu and Umualor in Isi Uzo LGA all in Enugu state, organised teachers to cover gaps in key subjects. We supported them with the needed materials and organisational skills.
