The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights. In line with this, Peter Mbah Foundation commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child 2022, in collaboration with The Town Crier Initiative selected Community Secondary School Neke in Isi-uzo LGA and conducted Spelling Bee competition, Steam Subject Scholarship program of 2022/2023 academic session for twenty winners of the competition. Among the sixteen students awarded with Steam subject scholarship, girls were more in number 10-6. The Spelling Bee Competition winners had three girls and one boy. This proves the ability of the girls so far. Scholarship was awarded to the winners, items given to each winner include; certificate, School bag, sandal, school uniform and some funds.

Agatha Obuna the senior prefect of Community Secondary School Neke in Isi -Uzo LGA Enugu State narrated her ordeal as the senior prefect in a mixed school comprising both male and female, her male class mates challenges her position as senior prefect instead of them who are the “male and mighty”. She ignored them, and so far has been outweighing them in their pranks. She remain focused, determined and visionary. Our time is now—our rights, our future
With adversity comes resourcefulness, creativity, tenacity, and resilience. However, girls have shown that given the skills and the opportunities, they can be the change makers.
